Does appeasement make an aggressor more aggressive? Why?
Appeasement tends to make an aggressor more aggressive. It’s human nature to want more, and when you give an aggressor more, they become more powerful. That leads to more aggressiveness, which, if met with more appeasement, will only grow. It doesn’t always work this way, but for the most part, appeasement is dangerous. When Hitler was appeased with Poland, he gained power. When he re-millitarlized the Rhineland, he gained power. When the Munich agreement permitted him to annex parts of Czechoslovakia, he gained power. He was like a hungry caterpillar, only he was eating poland, and the jews instead of apples and pears.
